Rusta’s Journey from Low-Price to Award-Winner

En Verified-märkning från Testfakta är en kvalitetsstämpel som innebär att produkten testats i laboratorium och lever upp till de specificerade kraven på samtliga testade parametrar.

With a long-term perspective and a consistent focus on quality, Rusta has gradually refined its product range. Thanks to its collaboration with Testfakta, the chain has not only improved product performance but also achieved measurable sales growth and strengthened its sustainability efforts.

Quality is a decisive competitive factor in retail. For Rusta – with its broad range and price position that attracts many – it is crucial that every product meets customer expectations. That is why Rusta works with Testfakta, which for more than 20 years has been a leading player in independent laboratory testing.

“We test what customers cannot test themselves,” explains Klaus Hahn, CEO of Testfakta. “We work with an international network of accredited laboratories and established standards. Our strength lies in measuring, analyzing, and translating results into insights for our clients.”

Independent Labeling Drives Sales

The collaboration is a central part of Rusta’s long-term quality strategy. A number of products in the assortment now carry Testfakta’s quality label, Verified. The label can be found on wall paint, towels, and vacuum cleaners across all Rusta markets in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Germany. And it has delivered results, says Jesper Bondesson, Sustainability Manager at Rusta.

“Testfakta’s labeling builds trust in Rusta, and its impact on sales is fantastic. A label almost always means a double-digit sales increase – and in some cases, even more.”

Data Leads to Decisions

For Rusta, the test results also serve as a basis for decisions about assortment, suppliers, and product development.

“When we can show suppliers in black and white how the products perform, it creates pressure and incentives to raise quality,” says Jesper Bondesson.

“Testfakta’s methodology gives us an impartial and measurable reference point. It’s a reassurance for both us and the customer.”

The Value of a ‘No’

Even when a product does not meet the labeling requirements, the outcome is valuable.

“Even if it’s not pleasant, it gives us important input and often leads to improvements in the next generation. Longer product lifespans and better performance also mean less resource waste and contribute to our sustainability goals,” says Jesper Bondesson.

“It also becomes easier to place demands on producers when we have hard facts in hand.”

Best in Test

Recently, both suitcases and tealights have not only passed Testfakta’s quality verification but also claimed the title Best in Test among comparable products.

This shows that Rusta’s long-term quality journey is now beginning to deliver full effect. “We see Testfakta as a proactive, solution-oriented partner on our growth journey. Our customers already know we have low prices, but having an independent party confirm the quality takes us closer to our vision: More for the Money.”
