Testfakta’s Certified Nutritional Quality ensures that the feed is nutritionally balanced and that it provides the animal with a correct intake of all necessary nutritional components.
The purpose of the certification is to help manufacturers and retailers to credibly communicate the quality of their product range and thereby facilitate the consumer's purchase decision.
Rules for certification and quality
Testfakta's certification is based on current recommendations for nutritional content in dog and cat food issued by the NRC (The National Research Council). NRC is part of the US equivalent of the Swedish Academy of Sciences and aims to promote research and development in various scientific fields.
For the quality assessment, the nutritional content of the feed is analyzed in a laboratory. The analysis is carried out at an accredited food laboratory in Testfakta's network.
To obtain Testfakta Certified Nutritional Quality, the results of the laboratory analysis must show that the feed has a good nutritional balance and that it is in line with recommended levels for all important nutrients.
The analysis covers a total of about 60 different nutritional parameters divided into the following main categories:
→ Energy content
→ Energy composition
→ Protein
→ Fatty acid composition
→ Minerals
→ Vitamins
